AI Plumber Terms & Safety
How The Classic AI Plumber works, its limitations, and safety guidance for homeowners. Effective September 4, 2026.
Effective date
This policy is effective as of September 4, 2026. We may update it from time to time; the date above reflects the most recent revision.
Policy purpose
The Classic AI Plumber provides educational information and general homeowner guidance based on information provided by the user.
The AI Plumber is not physically present at the property and cannot inspect concealed conditions, independently verify the accuracy of information or photographs supplied by the homeowner, guarantee a diagnosis, verify workmanship, confirm code compliance, or guarantee that a DIY repair will prevent leaks, damage, injury, or other problems.
Plumbing systems, fixtures, installation methods, product configurations, property conditions, local requirements, and existing damage can vary.
Homeowners choosing to perform DIY work do so based on their own judgment, comfort level, abilities, and the actual conditions present at their property.
If instructions do not match what the homeowner sees, the necessary water or power cannot be safely isolated, components are damaged or significantly corroded, unexpected conditions are discovered, or the homeowner becomes uncertain or uncomfortable, they should stop and contact a qualified professional.
DIY guidance
The AI Plumber may provide step-by-step guidance for certain lower-risk homeowner-level tasks such as:
- Cleaning faucet aerators
- Replacing toilet flappers
- Adjusting toilet components
- Replacing certain fill valves
- Resetting garbage disposals
- Cleaning accessible drain stoppers
- Replacing showerheads
- Other comparable homeowner maintenance
- Certain fixture or cartridge repairs when conditions are appropriate and the homeowner is comfortable
The availability of AI instructions does not mean every repair is appropriate for every homeowner or every property.
The homeowner remains responsible for deciding whether they are comfortable and capable of performing the work.
Water shutoff and leaks
For repairs involving plumbing components that contain or control water, homeowners should properly isolate the water supply before disassembly when required.
After completing work, homeowners should restore water carefully, test the fixture, inspect disturbed connections, and continue monitoring for leakage.
A connection that initially appears dry may still develop a slow leak.
The AI Plumber cannot remotely guarantee that a connection is watertight or that a repair has been completed correctly.
If leakage occurs or the homeowner is uncertain about the repair, water should be shut off when appropriate and professional assistance should be obtained.
Photos and product identification
Photos, model numbers, serial numbers, receipts, and manufacturer documentation may help the AI provide more relevant information.
However, image-based or AI-assisted identification may not always be accurate.
When exact identification matters, verify the manufacturer and model through reliable documentation before ordering parts or performing model-specific procedures.
Manufacturer documentation and warranties
The AI Plumber may help homeowners locate or understand manufacturer manuals, parts diagrams, warranty information, model numbers, serial numbers, and potential replacement components.
Manufacturer documentation should be prioritized whenever available.
The Classic Plumber does not determine manufacturer warranty eligibility.
Warranty coverage, replacement authorization, documentation requirements, parts coverage, labor coverage, shipping, and other terms are determined by the applicable manufacturer and warranty.
Homeowners should verify coverage directly with the manufacturer when necessary.
Safety
The AI Plumber should not be relied upon as a substitute for emergency services or an on-site professional assessment when hazardous or urgent conditions exist.
Situations involving significant uncontrolled leakage, flooding, sewage exposure, suspected gas leaks, unsafe electrical conditions, water near electrical equipment, significant property damage, or other potentially dangerous conditions should be treated appropriately and may require immediate professional or emergency assistance.
No guaranteed diagnosis
AI responses are based on the information available during the conversation.
Similar plumbing symptoms can have different causes.
The AI Plumber may discuss likely causes and troubleshooting possibilities but should not represent a remote assessment as a guaranteed diagnosis.
Professional service option
Homeowners are never required to perform DIY work.
At any point, if the homeowner is uncomfortable, uncertain, unable to safely complete a step, or simply prefers professional service, they may contact The Classic Plumber.
Service summary and conversation continuity
When you choose to request professional service after an AI Plumber conversation, a concise technician-ready summary is generated from your conversation. This summary may include the problem description, fixture information, troubleshooting steps already attempted, photos uploaded, urgency, and other relevant details.
You will be shown the summary before it is submitted and can edit it before continuing. The full conversation is not sent — only the summary you confirm.
Your AI conversation is not submitted to The Classic Plumber as a service request until you intentionally choose to request professional service.
Legal and consumer rights
Nothing in this policy is intended to waive or limit rights or obligations that cannot legally be waived or limited under applicable law.
This policy explains the intended use and practical limitations of the AI Plumber and does not replace applicable manufacturer instructions, codes, warranties, or legal requirements.
